The choice between pure cotton and a poly-cotton blend is one of the most common decisions in fabric sourcing, and it comes down to the priorities of your end market.
Pure cotton offers breathability, softness, and a natural feel that premium and comfort-focused markets demand. It is the default for high-end shirting, baby wear, and home textiles. The trade-offs are higher cost, more shrinkage, and more wrinkling.
Poly-cotton blends, commonly 65/35 or 52/48, combine cotton comfort with polyester strength, wrinkle resistance, and dimensional stability, usually at a lower cost. They dominate uniforms, workwear, institutional textiles, and value apparel where durability and easy care matter.
There is no universally better option, only the right fit for your product, price point, and customer. The ratio can also be tuned: a higher cotton share leans toward comfort, a higher polyester share toward durability and cost control.
