Tiny foreign particles in cotton cause outsized problems downstream. Here is why clean cotton matters so much.
What contamination is
Stray materials mixed into cotton — jute or plastic fibres from packaging, coloured threads, dust and trash. Even small amounts survive spinning and show in the fabric.
How it shows up
- Specks and coloured flecks in dyed and white fabric.
- Dye faults where foreign fibres do not take colour.
- Weak spots and breaks from hard contaminants.
Keeping yarn clean
It starts with clean cotton and careful handling; combing removes trash and short fibre, and good storage prevents fresh contamination — see storing yarn. Consistent, clean yarn is central to our quality standards.
