Domestic Yarn Dispatch: Invoice, GST and E-Way Bill Checklist

A yarn consignment that moves without the right paperwork can be held up on the road. This checklist covers what a buyer and seller should match before a lot leaves. Rules and thresholds can change, so confirm them with your CA.

On the tax invoice

  • Both GSTINs. Seller and buyer, with names and addresses that match their registrations.
  • HSN code and description. Use the correct heading for the yarn or fabric. See our HSN code guide.
  • Quantity, rate and value. Match the purchase order and the packing list.
  • Tax shown correctly. Check that the applicable rate and the tax split are right for the consignment.

E-way bill

An e-way bill is generally needed when the value of goods being moved is above the prescribed limit. Generate it before the goods move and make sure the vehicle number and transporter details are correct. Carry it, or its number, with the consignment.

Other records to keep

  • Lorry receipt and delivery challan. Proof of dispatch and delivery.
  • Packing list. Cartons, lot numbers and weights.
  • Order and approval records. The agreed specification and approved sample.
