Woven fabric in India comes from powerlooms and handlooms alike. Each has a place, and each draws on yarn a little differently.
Powerloom
Motor-driven looms weave fabric fast and consistently at scale — the backbone of commercial shirting, dress material and grey fabric. Needs even, strong warp yarn to run cleanly. See weaving yarn.
Handloom
Hand-operated looms produce distinctive, often premium fabric with a human touch — ikat, khadi and heritage weaves. Values character over speed, and often uses dyed and specialty yarn.
Yarn for each
Both use cotton and blends; powerloom prioritises warp strength and consistency, handloom often uses dyed yarn for design. We supply for both, mill-direct across India — see locations we serve.
Powerloom or handloom, we supply the yarn to match.
