What recycled yarn is
Recycled cotton comes from post-industrial cutting waste or post-consumer textiles, mechanically or chemically reprocessed into fibre and re-spun — often blended with virgin cotton or polyester for strength.
The trade-offs
Recycled fibres are usually shorter, so pure recycled yarn is coarser and weaker. Blending with virgin fibre restores strength while keeping recycled content — a common, practical approach.
Where it fits
