When a spec calls for two-fold yarn like 60s/2, it has usually been through a TFO. Here is what that means.
What TFO does
Two-for-One (TFO) twisting combines two single yarns into one plied yarn, inserting two turns of twist per spindle revolution — efficiently producing a balanced, two-fold yarn.
Why two-fold
Plying two singles (usually in the opposite twist direction) gives a yarn that is stronger, smoother and more even than a single of the same count — ideal for high-strength warps, fine shirting and sewing threads. See single vs double (TFO) yarn.
Specifying it
Quote the count with the fold, e.g. 60s/2. Convert and compare counts with the count converter. We supply single and two-fold yarn in cotton and blends.
